I just recently decided to get into 3D printing and I'm glad that I went with the Dremel brand, and this particular printer model (3D20). In my opinion, this model is great for beginners, tinkerers, hobbying, and great for general small parts/accessories around the house. Sure, there are some areas for improvement as far as quality (print quality, precision, etc), but overall it's a great 3D printer to start out with.
I have had ideas of things I wanted to build and with this, now I can actually make them! Aside from making misc. items, I often find items on Thingiverse to make my wife. She enjoys waking up in the morning and waiting to see what I left her from the 3D printer. If you had kids, I'm sure this would be a blast for them as well.
One downfall is that Dremel doesn't seem to want you using other brands filaments. However, there are plenty of spool holders on Thingiverse, and I actually made my own spool stand replacement to accomodate other larger spools. Search Thingiverse for Dremel 3D20 Spool Stand/Holder, as I will be uploading it now.
