Miss Marlene Lansman, daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. Quentin C. Lansman of Princeton Dr., was recently elected Winter Homecoming Queen at Otterbein College. Miss Lansman is a sophomore majoring in English and Sociology. She was graduated from Colonel White High School in 1965.

Drill Team Commander Acquires New Title Marlene Lansman, an Otterbein junior from Dayton and Drill Team Commander of the Angel Flight, was awarded the title ** Little Col oner* during the tri­ area conclave of the Arnold Air Society at the SheratonGibson Hotel, Cincinnati, last Saturday. A total of 11 coed can­ didates from area colleges and universities participated in the one-day contest, which was judged on four phases - beauty and poise, Angel Flight participation, academic excellence and personality. The three Little Colonel judges (from each area) con­ sisted of an Air Force Major, a fashion instructor at U. of Cincinnati, and a disc jockey from a Cincinnati radio station. The girls were judged on their appearance and their answers to such pertinent questions as (1) **How do

Mathis, graduate of the University of Cincinnati, opened an en­ velope during the Military Ball, attended by Cadets and Angels from 28 colleges and universities, and dramati­ cally announced the Otter­ bein coed*s victory as “Little Colonel!** Marlene competed against girls from ... Area D-1 col­ leges, including Miami Uni­ versity, Ohio State Univer­ sity, Ohio Wesleyan Univer­ sity, Ohio University and the University of Cincinnati. Headquarters of the three Arnold Air Society areas are located at Miami University (D-1); U. of Pittsburgh (E-1); and Michigan State U. (E-2). Upon hearing her name announced as Area D-1 “Little Colonel**, Marlene was escorted onto the stage by Major James E. Hamer. “I was thrilled to say the least! Most of all I felt proud to be representing Angel Flight, Arnold Air Society and Otterbein.** Miss Lansman is now eligible to vie for the “Little General** title, a national Angel Flight con­ test to be held April 7-11 in New York City, involving 15 girl-candidates from colleges and universities across the nation.

Marlene Reigns Over Homecoming By Eunice Fanning The lights were turned out. The crowd was left waiting in the dark. A young man wandered through the rows of spectators, search­ ing. A spotlight followed him. He finally stepped up to a young lady dressed in \\^ite. She was the 1967 Winter Princess.

This was the setting as Roger Nisley, a Varsity O member, picked Marlene Lansman out of the 1967 Homecoming crowd at the Heidelberg game, Saturday night. Marlene was led across the basketball court to her throne. She was given a dozen red roses, pinned with a white corsage, and crowned by last year's Winter Homecoming Prin­ cess, Eileen Goad. Later that evening, she reigned at the Homecoming Dance. Marlene, an English and Sociology major from Dayton, Ohio, is a member of Tau Epsilon Mu and the Angel Flight.
