Does anyone know if the Presonus Firepod is compatible with Windows 7 Pro 64 bit?
I am updating to a newer PC and want to know if it will work. Does it need new drivers or firmware? I've tried researching this but haven't been able to find a clear answer as there is less support for it. |  |

I have 2 Firestudio Project running on Windows 7 64. I use Cubase Studio 5 as my DAW and I have nothing but problem after problem with drivers from presonus. None of them work properly and when they do, it doesn't last very long. I had to "Unplug" one of my Presonus and use a generic ASIO driver. Unfortunately, ASIO drivers only recognize one device, if you have two of the same. If I was to do it all over again..I'd ditch the Presonus and go with MOTU, or, If I was in your case I would buy a MAC. Windows 7 64bit and presonus don't get along very well. You will need new Firmware which you can d/l at presonus, but their drivers are "Best Guess" as Microsoft does not share what drivers they use with manufactuers.Presonus tech support is a joke, and when you tell them what's going on, they just tell you to use the "Legacy Drivers" which don't work any better, or to search their knowledge database(user Forums).Another good one from them is, "check your firewire card..make sure it's texas instruments"...unfortunately most computers have generic firewire cards that don't say what kind they are. Because of all of the above, my hobbie/extra cash studio is at a standstill....lots of $$$ invested, for overpriced paperweights. Hope this helps. | | |
