Using port forwarding to open a range of ports for elder scrolls online
Hi everyone,
I am pretty much a noob when it comes to using VPNs and especially port forwarding so I am lost as to what to do. I am having trouble, like many others, with the Elder Scrolls Online game downloading and patching ridiculously slow. I mean 50-200 kbs slow when I normally get much, much, much faster speeds. It is a known issue, with minimal help given from the game's support, and as the others out there with this same problem I have tried many different things trying to fix or help this issue along but I am down to needing to use port forwarding if I want to download this game within the month and continue playing thereafter. Apparently, the ports that I need to have open are blocked by my carrier and I checked that they were. Since I use a verizon hotspot on my tablet as my internet connection I do not have a router. I read that port triggering is safer but a VPN can allow port forwarding to be used without the same security issues and doesn't require a router present.
At any rate, I got PIA VPN to use because they allow port forwarding only to learn that I can only open one port on one end. I need to open up the following ports HERE to allow more open communication with the game servers so that I can in essence download whats needed faster. At least, that is my understanding. Remember please, I'm new to this. Can anyone help me do this?
I hope I have given enough information for someone to help with this issue and I would be more than happy to give anything else needed. I apologize in advance sincerely for any trouble this may cause and I very much appreciate any and all help I can get. I should mention that since I am not the only one in this situation I would like to resolve this for others out there, too, and not just with the Elder Scrolls Online game.
